While Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas protect against specific created evils (magic, envy, whispers), Surah Al-Ikhlas establishes pure Tawheed (Monotheism). In Islamic spiritual healing, affirming the absolute oneness and supreme power of Allah (Al-Ahad, As-Samad) serves as the core foundation for removing spiritual afflictions, fear, and sickness.

Key Hadith References and Virtues

  1. Equal to One-Third of the Quran

Because it encompasses the entire essence of Islamic creed (Tawheed), reciting it carries immense spiritual weight, making any supplication or Ruqyah combined with it exceptionally powerful.

Hadith: Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to his companions:"Is one of you unable to recite a third of the Quran in a night?" They found that difficult and said, "Which of us can do that, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "'Say: He is Allah, One' (Surah Al-Ikhlas) is equivalent to one-third of the Quran."

  1. Ultimate Shield When Combined with the 3 Quls

Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas together with Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas forms a complete fortress against all physical, mental, and spiritual harms.

Hadith: Abdullah ibn Khubaib (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him:"Recite 'Qul Huwal-lahu Ahad' and Al-Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times in the evening and three times in the morning. It will suffice you against everything (protect you from all harm)."

  1. Prophetic Practice for Bedtime Healing & Self-Ruqyah

The Prophet (ﷺ) explicitly used Surah Al-Ikhlas as part of his daily nightly Ruqyah routine for healing and protection.

Hadith: Mother of the Believers, Aisha (RA) narrated:"Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went to bed every night, he would cup his hands together, blow into them (Nafth), and recite into them: Qul Huwal-lahu Ahad, Qul A'oodhu bi Rabbil-Falaq, and Qul A'oodhu bi Rabbin-Nas. Then he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, starting with his head, face, and the front part of his body. He would do this three times."

  1. Ruqyah Practice During Severe Illness

Hadith: Aisha (RA) also reported:"Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) became ill, he would recite the Mu'awwidhat (including Surah Al-Ikhlas) over himself and blow over his body. When his pain became severe, I used to recite them over him and wipe his body with his own hand, seeking its blessing."
