وَقُلْجَاءَالْحَقُّوَزَهَقَالْبَاطِلُۚإِنَّالْبَاطِلَكَانَزَهُوقًا ﴿٨١

English Transliteration

Wa qul jaaa’al-haqqu wa zahaqal-baatil; innal-baatila kaana zahooqaa.

English Translation (Saheeh International)

“And say, ‘Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], bound to depart.'”

Bengali Translation (বাংলা অনুবাদ)

(৮১) «আর বলুন, ‘সত্য এসেছে এবং মিথ্যা বিলুপ্ত হয়েছে; নিশ্চয় মিথ্যা বিলুপ্ত হওয়ারই ছিল।’»

In Ruqyah Shari’ah (Quranic healing), Surah Al-Isra (17:81) is one of the most foundational, frequently recited, and powerful verses for destroying spiritual harm:

1. Shattering and Neutralizing Black Magic (Sihr)

  • Spiritual Principle: Black magic, sorcery, and demonic spells are built entirely on deception, illusion, and falsehood (Baatil). When confronted with the uncreated Word of Allah (Al-Haqq), falsehood cannot survive.
  • Ruqyah Application: Practitioners recite this verse repeatedly over the patient, Ruqyah water, or olive oil to shatter black magic knots, break hexes, and annul spiritual contracts. It is recited with the firm conviction (Yaqeen) that magic is inherently weak and destined to vanish.

2. Expelling Intrusive Jinn and Demonic Spirits

  • Spiritual Principle: Demonic possession and spiritual disturbances rely on false claims of power and authority over human bodies.
  • Ruqyah Application: Recited aloud during Ruqyah sessions to weaken, burn, and drive out stubborn Jinn and evil spirits by asserting that Allah’s truth has arrived and their false presence must perish (zahooqaa).

3. Dispelling Doubt, Intrusive Whispers (Waswas), and Confusion

  • Spiritual Principle: Satanic whispers and intrusive thoughts attempt to replace truth with anxiety, doubt, and fear.
  • Ruqyah Application: Recited by individuals suffering from severe psychological distress, obsessive-compulsive whispers (Waswas), or spiritual confusion to bring clarity, peace, and cognitive stability.

Authentic Hadith References

1. Recited During the Conquest of Makkah (Fath Makkah)

Narrator: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)

Hadith: When Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) entered Makkah on the day of the Conquest, there were three hundred and sixty idols standing around the Ka'bah. He was holding a stick in his hand, and as he struck the idols with it, he recited:

«جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا»

"Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood bound to depart." (Surah Al-Isra 17:81)

and:

«جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَمَا يُبْدِئُ الْبَاطِلُ وَمَا يُعِيدُ»

"Truth has come, and falsehood can neither originate nor repeat [anything]." (Surah Saba 34:49)

Classical mufassireen explain the dramatic historical context and spiritual power of this verse:

1. The Triumph of Islam and Destruction of Falsehood

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that this verse was revealed as a divine declaration of victory for the Truth (Monotheism, the Quran, and Islam) over Falsehood (Polytheism, idol worship, and deception). Falsehood may have temporary prominence, but its nature is fragile and bound to perish whenever the Truth manifests.

Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi notes that "Al-Baqil" (Falsehood) encompasses all forms of evil, shirk, magic, and demonic illusions, while "Al-Haqq" (Truth) is Allah's revelation and light, which completely obliterates darkness.
