Surah At-Tawbah (9:14) contains the explicit Quranic verb “وَيَشْفِ” (Wayashfi — “And He heals”), making it one of the six primary Ayat ash-Shifa (Verses of Healing) in the Holy Quran.
1. Healing Emotional Trauma, Anxiety, and Heart Distress
- Spiritual Principle: The chest (Sadr) and heart (Qalb) are the centers of human emotion. Grief, depression, betrayal, and chronic stress often manifest as physical tightness or burning in the chest.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited repeatedly by practitioners and individuals suffering from emotional shock, deep grief, panic attacks, depression, or chest tightness. Placing the right hand over the chest while reciting “Wa yashfi sudoora qawmim mu’mineen, wa yuzhib ghayza quloobihim” brings divine calm and relief.
2. Neutralizing Evil Eye (Ayn), Envy (Hasad), and Malicious Harms
- Spiritual Principle: The verse declares Allah’s power to defeat oppressors, disgrace hostile forces, and give victory to the believers.
- Ruqyah Application: Used in Ruqyah Shari’ah to combat the destructive effects of envy (Hasad) and spiritual attacks, asking Allah to neutralize the malicious intentions of enviers and restore strength to the victim.
3. Recitation Over Ruqyah Water and Honey
- Spiritual Principle: Combining the physical benefits of Sunnah remedies with the Quranic Ayat ash-Shifa.
- Ruqyah Application: Frequently recited over drinking water, honey, or olive oil alongside other healing verses, then consumed to promote physical and internal spiritual healing.
🤲 Dua / Ruqyah
Classical mufassireen highlight these verses as foundational Ayat ash-Shifa (Verses of Healing), particularly for internal, emotional, and spiritual relief:
1. Spiritual and Emotional Healing (Yashfi Sudoora)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that these verses were revealed regarding the believers who suffered oppression, betrayal, and hostility at the hands of the disbelievers of Makkah (such as the tribes of Banu Bakr and Quraysh). Victory over their oppressors brought true comfort, relief, and cure (Shifa) to their burdened hearts, removing the deep-seated sorrow and pain caused by prolonged injustice.
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi emphasizes the phrase "Wa yashfi sudoora qawmim mu'mineen" (And [He will] heal/satisfy the breasts of a believing people), noting that Shifa here applies to the spiritual and emotional heart—cleansing it of anxiety, grief, fear, and oppression.
2. Removal of Anger and Inner Turbulence (Yuzhib Ghayza Quloobihim)
Tafsir At-Tabari: Imam Al-Tabari points out that verse 15 directly addresses psychological relief: Allah removes the rage, resentment, and inner turmoil (Ghayz) that accumulates in a believer's heart during severe trials.
