In Ruqyah Shari’ah (Quranic healing), Surah Ali ‘Imran (3:85) serves as a foundational Principle of Spiritual Purity and Authentic Healing (Al-I’laam bil-Tawheed al-Kamil):
1. Purifying Spiritual Healing from Superstition, Shirk, and Unlawful Amulets
- Spiritual Principle: Many people seeking cures for black magic, envy, or illness turn to charlatans, magicians, or practitioners who use unverified, un-Islamic, or shirk-based rituals (Tamayim, sorcery, or calling upon unseen entities). This verse emphasizes that true spiritual refuge and healing can only be sought through pure Islamic monotheism (Islam in its comprehensive sense of submission to Allah).
- Ruqyah Application: Recited or reflected upon during spiritual counseling to guide patients away from false, unlawful remedies and anchor them strictly in Ruqyah Shari’ah—relying exclusively on the Quran, authentic Sunnah supplications, and pure Tawheed.
2. Reinforcing Psychological Security and Faith Alignment
- Spiritual Principle: Spiritual stability requires absolute clarity of purpose and faith. Aligning one’s heart entirely with Allah’s prescribed path eliminates inner conflict, existential confusion, and susceptibility to dark spiritual whisperings (Waswas).
- Ruqyah Application: Used to strengthen the patient’s spiritual resolve, ensuring their heart remains firm, confident, and devoted solely to Allah during trials and afflictions.

Narrator: Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stated:
"By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one from this nation—whether Jew or Christian—hears of me and then dies without believing in that with which I have been sent, except that he will be from the companions of the Fire."

📜 Tafsir / Commentary
Classical mufassireen explain the absolute theological reality and the exclusivity of divine acceptance established in this verse:
1. The Only Accepted Path Before Allah
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that after the final message was sent through Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Allah does not accept any religion or path from anyone except through the Law of Islam—which means submission to Allah alone, following His final revelation, and worshipping Him as prescribed. Anyone who seeks a spiritual path outside of Islam (whether through distorted beliefs, paganism, or invalid practices) will find their deeds rejected, and they will face spiritual bankruptcy in the Hereafter (Minal-khaasireen).
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi highlights that this verse seals all preceding divine laws, establishing that true submission to Allah requires complete adherence to the final prophetic guidance. In the context of spiritual health and Ruqyah, it underscores that true healing, protection, and salvation are found solely within the pure framework of Quranic monotheism (Tawheed) and prophetic traditions (Sunnah), rejecting all forms of unverified, superstitious, or unlawful spiritual practices.
