In Ruqyah Shari’ah (Quranic healing), Surah Ibrahim (14:27) is utilized as a powerful verse for Steadfastness (Thabat), mental stability, and dispelling severe confusion:
1. Healing Confusion, Panic, Intrusive Whispers (Waswas), and Mental Instability
- Spiritual Principle: The core verb “يُثَبِّتُ” (Yuthabbitu — “keeps firm/anchors”) represents divine stabilization against chaotic forces. Severe spiritual afflictions (Ayn, Sihr, or Jinn interference) often manifest as extreme brain fog, panic attacks, involuntary fear, or crippling doubt.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited repeatedly while placing the right hand over the head or chest to ask Allah to stabilize the central nervous system, anchor the mind, and dispel satanic confusion and psychological terror.
2. Protecting Against Demonic Intimidation and Paralysis
- Spiritual Principle: Evil spirits and dark magic frequently aim to disorient, intimidate, or break a person’s resolve.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited aloud during active Ruqyah sessions to strengthen the patient’s heart and resolve, ensuring that the person remains firm (Thabit) upon faith while weakening the presence and influence of the intruding spirit.
3. Preserving Clarity and Peace During Terminal Sickness or Crisis
- Spiritual Principle: Guarantees that Allah keeps the believer grounded upon truth during life’s most challenging or final moments.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited for patients dealing with severe, chronic, or critical health conditions to maintain peace of mind, emotional composure, and complete faith in Allah’s decree.

"When a Muslim is questioned in the grave, he bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. That is the meaning of the statement of Allah: 'Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter.'"

Classical mufassireen explain the nature of "The Firm Word" (Al-Qawl At-Thabit) and its role in protecting a believer's heart and mind:
1. The Meaning of "The Firm Word" (Al-Qawl At-Thabit)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that "The Firm Word" refers to the declaration of faith—La ilaha illallah (There is no god but Allah) and Muhammadur Rasoolullah. Allah grants believers unwavering steadfastness (Thabat) upon this truth during their worldly trials, at the time of death, and during the interrogation in the grave by the angels Munkar and Nakir.
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi notes that divine steadfastness in this life (Fil-hayaatid-dunyaa) means Allah protects the believer's mind and heart from doubt, confusion, demonic whispers (Waswas), and spiritual deviation when facing extreme hardship, illness, or temptation.
