In Ruqyah Shari’ah and spiritual protection, Surah Al-Baqarah (2:72) is applied for specific diagnostic and protective purposes:
1. Exposing Hidden Ailments, Magic, and Secret Harms
- Spiritual Principle: The phrase “Wal-laahu mukhrijum maa kuntum takt-umoon” (And Allah is to bring out that which you were concealing) establishes that nothing hidden can stay concealed from Allah.
- Ruqyah Application: Practitioners recite this verse during diagnostic Ruqyah sessions to ask Allah to expose the root cause of hidden illnesses, unexplained pains, or covertly planted black magic (Sihr). It is used with the intention that Allah brings to light whatever is concealed inside the body or environment causing distress.
2. Neutralizing Secret Conspiracies and Hidden Plots
- Spiritual Principle: When people maliciously plot behind closed doors or conceal harmful intentions against an innocent person, Allah has the power to unravel those secrets and make them evident.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited by individuals facing hidden betrayals, subtle sabotage, or covert harassment, asking Allah to expose the truth and neutralize the hidden efforts of wrongdoers.

Classical commentators explain the historical context and deep lesson behind this verse:
1. Exposing Hidden Truths and Secrets
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that this verse refers to an incident among the Children of Israel where a man was murdered, and nobody knew who the killer was. They began accusing one another and disputing over it. Allah willed to expose the truth, commanding them to slaughter a cow so that the murdered man could momentarily speak and reveal his killer. Ibn Kathir notes the overarching principle: Allah will always bring to light whatever secrets, crimes, or hidden matters people attempt to conceal.
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi highlights that no matter how hard wrongdoers try to hide their misdeeds, conspiracies, or hidden harms (such as secret plots, poisons, or hidden magic), Allah's omniscience ensures that the truth is eventually exposed and brought out into the open (Mukhrijum maa kuntوم taktumoon).
