In Ruqyah Shari’ah (Quranic healing), Surah Al-Inshirah is considered a master key for emotional, psychological, and spiritual relief:
1. Relieving Chest Tightness, Panic Attacks, and Anxiety
- Spiritual Principle: The opening verse (“Alam nashrah laka sadrak”) directly asks Allah to expand and open the chest. Many spiritual or psychological afflictions (such as Ayn, Hasad, or anxiety disorders) manifest as a physical sensation of heavy pressure, suffocation, or burning in the chest.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited repeatedly while placing the right hand over the chest. Practitioners use it with the intention (Niyyah) that Allah removes every constriction, panic attack, depression, and tightness, expanding the chest with divine peace (Sakinah).
2. Lifting Heavy Spiritual Burdens and Exhaustion
- Spiritual Principle: Verses 2 and 3 speak of removing heavy loads (Wizr) that weigh down the back (Anqada zahrak).
- Ruqyah Application: Recited for individuals suffering from unexplained chronic fatigue, body heaviness, or intense spiritual exhaustion caused by severe trials or dark spiritual influences (Sihr), asking Allah to lift the burden.
3. Overcoming Obstacles and Hardships in Life
- Spiritual Principle: The double affirmation in verses 5 and 6 guarantees that relief (Yusr) is bound to follow hardship (‘Usr).
- Ruqyah Application: Recited by individuals experiencing persistent blockages in life, work, health, or personal matters to instill unshakeable hope (Tawakkul) and break through spiritual stagnation.

🤲 Dua / Ruqyah
Classical mufassireen highlight this Surah as a profound source of divine comfort, hope, and spiritual elevation:
1. Expansion of the Chest (Sharh as-Sadr)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that Allah expanded the breast of the Prophet (ﷺ) by filling it with light, guidance, wisdom, and patience. It refers to both spiritual expansion (filling the heart with faith and removing tight distress) and the physical opening/cleansing of his heart that occurred in his childhood and during the Night Journey (Al-Isra' wal-Mi'raj).
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Commenting on verses 5 and 6 ("Fa-inna ma'al-'usri yusraa, Inna ma'al-'usri yusraa"), Al-Qurtubi notes that the definite noun (Al-'Usr — the difficulty) is repeated with the definite article, while the indefinite noun (Yusran — an ease) is repeated without it. Based on Arabic linguistics, this means one hardship cannot overcome two eases; ease will inevitably prevail over difficulty.
