Surah Yunus (10:57) is one of the premier Ayat ash-Shifa (Verses of Healing) in the Quran, highly sought after in Ruqyah Shari’ah for treating internal and emotional afflictions:
1. Healing Emotional Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression
- Spiritual Principle: The human chest (Sadr) frequently becomes heavy due to grief, psychological pressure, or the invisible weight of spiritual afflictions like the Evil Eye (Ayn) or envy (Hasad). This verse targets the root of chest tightness.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited repeatedly during personal or professional Ruqyah sessions while placing the hand over the chest. It is used with the firm intention that Allah clears away anxiety, panic attacks, heartache, and chronic sadness.
2. Neutralizing Spiritual Poison and Malice (Envy & Hatred)
- Spiritual Principle: Envy (Hasad) and resentment corrupt the heart from within. The Quran acts as an antiseptic and restorative wash for spiritual corrosion.
- Ruqyah Application: Recited over drinking water or honey to be consumed by individuals suffering from heaviness, bitterness, or spiritual contamination caused by toxic social environments or malicious spells.
3. Restoring Mental Clarity and Spiritual Guidance
- Spiritual Principle: Dispelling the fog of doubt and confusion introduced by whispered demonic suggestions (Waswas).
- Ruqyah Application: Used as a daily healing Wird to clear intrusive thoughts, strengthen the intellect, and re-anchor the heart in divine guidance (Huda) and mercy (Rahmah).

Classical mufassireen explain the multi-layered healing and guidance offered in this magnificent verse:
1. Cure for the Diseases of the Heart (Shifaa'un Limaa Fis-Sudoor)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Imam Ibn Kathir explains that the Quran acts as a cure for the spiritual diseases lodged inside the breasts (Sudoor), such as doubt, hypocrisy, polytheism, confusion, malice, and envy. When the light of the Quran enters the heart, it purifies it, clearing away all spiritual illness and replacing it with certainty and faith.
Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: Imam Al-Qurtubi notes that the verse addresses all of humanity (Yaa ayyuha-nnaasu) with a general invitation, but highlights that the specific blessings of guidance (Huda) and mercy (Rahmah) are fully embraced and reaped by the believers (Lil-mu'mineen). He emphasizes that the Quran heals both psychological turmoil and spiritual corruption.
